Investigating the Investigator

When conducting investigations, manufacturers often want to find similar NHTSA investigations (concurrent and historical). The best way is to look at other investigations by the same investigator, since they typically handle similar issues.

For years no tool offered this. The only way was to collect every NHTSA investigation and manually read all closing resumes, then compile the results by hand.

In Datrato, while viewing any investigation report, clicking the investigator's name in the Open/Close Resume field opens a report of all investigations by that investigator. Open reports reveal current breadth; Close reports provide historical insight into outcomes and manufacturer responses.

The Profile tab shows an Investigator Summary: track record, average time taken, percentage of investigations upgraded or recalled, and which manufacturers and components they have investigated.
